History of KGA

Klamath Gymnastic Academy was founded in 1984 by Scott Cullen. An accomplished Gymnast himself, Scott was a member of the Klamath Union High School Men’s Gymnastics Team for 4 years before he attended Oregon Institute of Technology. He went to work at Klamath School of Gymnastics in 1982, purchased the equipment in 1984 and Klamath Gymnastic Academy was born.

KGA was located in the Town and Country Shopping Center for several years before Scott purchased the old Skating Rink located on Shasta Way. Scott worked tirelessly to overhaul the old building removing thousands of old tires that had been discarded in and around the abandoned building.

Scott and his father added the lobby and office areas and remodeled the entire building. The result was a beautiful 7000 square foot facility that served the needs of our students for many years.

Scott decided in 2007 to semi-retire and spend more time with his wife Debbie, and stepdaughters Nicole, Kirstie and daughter Ciarra. He enjoys coaching and will continue to teach classes at Klamath Gymnastics as well. Scott also owns Lakeside Excavation and will be busy with that as well. In his spare time, Scott enjoys sail boating and plans to do a lot more of it.

Scott turned over the reins of Klamath Gymnastics to Stephanie Potter, one of his former students and a coach. Stephanie began her Gymnastics education at age 4 at Klamath Gymnastics. “Scott taught me everything I know” remarks Stephanie.

Stephanie competed on the KGA Team while also participating in Softball, Ballet, Cheerleading in high school & college, and track. After high school Stephanie received her Associates degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University and returned to KGA as a coach while attending Oregon Institute of Technology where she received her Bachelors in Psychology.

KGA has under gone another major change, in 2007 the gym was moved to its present location on Spring Street. The new gym is a bright, fun & friendly environment. Stephanie plans to keep growing and improving upon what Scott started. Scott has built the reputation of Klamath Gymnastics as a place where talent is nurtured and athletes are trained to their greatest potential. Feel free to bring your child in and visit our facility!
